If you use a direct payment gateway, Squarespace stores your payment information using PCI-DSS–compliant encryption. Purchase transaction data is retained only as long as necessary to complete the transaction, after which it is deleted.
All direct payment gateways used by Squarespace comply with PCI-DSS standards managed by the PCI Security Standards Council (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover).
